Rapid Shutdown Integration

Rapid Shutdown Control

NOTE

Installation of Rapid Shutdown may not be required unless specified by local regulations or project design.

The heartbeat feature supplements the preinstalled emergency shutdown button located on the front of the cabinet. The heartbeat feature is configurable and can be disabled where undesired.

Follow the instructions for the inverter’s rapid shutdown function as described in its manual. Depending on the inverter functionality, when a Rapid Shutdown event is triggered, it will either:

  • Send a STOP command to the battery system, or

  • Cease communication entirely.

When a Rapid Shutdown event occurs, the battery begins shutting down within 30 seconds of activation.

Communication Loss (Fail-Safe Mechanism)

The LYNK II Gateway has a heartbeat that can be configured using LYNK ACCESS software.

When enabled, if communication between the LYNK II and inverter is lost for the defined number of seconds:

  • The inverter and battery safely stops operating.

  • The battery system disconnects as part of the Rapid Shutdown process / fail safe.

This fail-safe approach ensures system safety, maintains Rapid Shutdown compliance, and prevents equipment damage in the event of a communication failure.

Automatic Recovery

  • The system automatically resumes operation when communication is restored, or the Rapid Shutdown is deactivated.

  • If the application does not require the Rapid Shutdown (heartbeat) feature, it can be deactivated in the LYNK Access system settings.

    • This may be applicable during commissioning, troubleshooting, off-grid setups, or highly redundant installations.
