COMMUNICATION AND NETWORK DETAILS

a. Refer to GB/Z 19582.1-2004 Specification for Industrial Automation Networks Based on Modbus Protocol Part III.

b. The protocol is generally used for a TCP / IP communication link, with client/server architecture, compatible with the Modbus protocol.

c. Ethernet communication: TCP / IP protocol, EMS as server, BMS as client.
For custom network configurations, use the BMS Interface Software to adjust the BMS IP address and port number. Connect a computer to the BMS via the designated communication port, then use the software to modify the IP address and port number to match your site’s network requirements (e.g., static IP assignments, specific subnets, or firewall rules). If you do not have access to the BMS Interface Software or require detailed configuration instructions, please contact Discover Energy Systems' Technical Support for the necessary tools and guidance.

d. Default IP address
BMS IP address: 192.168.1.101 (default)
EMS IP address: 192.168.1.10 recommended

e. Default port number
BMS as the server, port number: 2404.

f. Data format: Big-endian mode is used. The high byte is sent first, followed by the low byte.

g. The EMS must send a Modbus-TCP Read Holding Registers (Function Code 0x03) request to the BMS at regular 5-second intervals.

The BMS monitors communication activity based on the receipt of these 0x03 requests. If no 0x03 message is received within 20 seconds, the BMS declares a communication timeout fault and reports it accordingly.

By default, the communication timeout detection is disabled in the BMS. Enable it after field testing using the BMS PC configuration software.
