Megarevo Inverter Configuration (Closed Loop Without LYNK II)

The HELIOS ESS supports closed-loop communication with the Megarevo inverters listed in the Closed-Loop Communication with Inverters table in HELIOS ESS Closed-Loop Communication.
To enable communication between the inverter and batteries:

  1. Connect a CAT6 or higher straight cable from the HELIOS ESS COM2 port to the BMS CAN port of the Megarevo inverter-charger.

Megarevo CAN Connection

NOTE

The Megarevo inverter has 2 rows of RJ45 connectors. Connect to the BMS CAN port in the back row.

  1. Plug a termination resistor into the J3/J4 port of the last HELIOS battery in the LYNK network.

  2. Configure the Inverter-Charger
Refer to the latest Discover Energy Systems documentation for battery values and the latest Megarevo documentation for menu navigation and details on the setup procedure.

    1. Set the Discover Lithium batteries to ON and set the inverter to ON.
The inverter power button is located on the front of the inverter. The inverter touchscreen can turn ON even when the inverter is OFF.

    2. Using the inverter touchscreen interface, in the top-left corner of the Control Panel, touch the image-20260130-235428.png Gear icon to enter the Settings menu.

      image-20260205-192144.png
    3. When requested by the Settings screen, enter the password. The default is 11111.

    4. Configure the battery parameters as shown below.

NOTE

  • If using multiple inverters, configure inverters to operate in image-20260203-191746.png parallel before setting the battery operation parameters.

  • Depending on your system and particular use case, there may be other settings that require configuration. Refer to the inverter manual for information on these settings.

Battery Type and Communications

HELIOS ESS 52-48-16000

Batt Type

Select Lithium (Pylon).

Bat Com Type

Select CAN.

Charge Current

200 A x number of batteries

NOTE: Each HELIOS ESS battery is rated at a 200 A charge rate, but when connected in parallel, the maximum current is limited by internal busbars. For the recommended maximum current for paralleled HELIOS ESS, refer to the HELIOS Manual, Minimum Specifications for Battery Systems.

Dischg power limit

Set the maximum inverter discharge as a percentage of its max continuous power output.

75% in a 1 inverter to 1 battery system.

Battery awaken

Only required when the battery is over-discharged and has shut down. Do not over-discharge the battery.

CAN ID

Keep the default value of 0.

Battery Screen 2

Set the following battery parameters according to your application requirements.

Battery Setting

HELIOS ESS 52-48-16000

Bat Grid DOD

When the battery’s depth of discharge exceeds the set value, the inverter triggers a battery low-voltage alarm.

You can differentiate DOD behavior between when the battery is connected to the grid and when the battery is off-grid.

Offgrid DOD

Grid Eco Hyst

After a low-voltage alarm is generated, it is cleared once the battery is recharged to the specified level.

You can differentiate the alarm reset level between when the battery is connected to the grid and when the battery is off-grid.

Offgrid Eco Hyst

NOTE

  • If there is a break in communication between the HELIOS ESS battery and inverter-charger for more than ten seconds, the inverter-charger will safely stop operation. The Megarevo inverter-charger will check every few minutes and resume closed-loop operation if communication is re-established.

  • If communication cannot be reestablished and you need to resume operation, you may have to manually convert the inverter to an open-loop configuration. For instructions on configuring open loop, refer to Megarevo Inverter Configuration (Open Loop).
